The personal and spiritual development world likes to talk about “blocks” a lot.
You know, all the shit that holds you back from having what you want, or being who you really want to be.
The things that “block” you from having better relationships or more abundance or doing work you love or even just getting through the damn week without feeling like it’s too hard or there’s too much to do to get where you wanna go.
You have to “get past this block” or “let go of a limiting belief” to move forward and into your next level.
Which can itself feel like a lot of damn work when you just want to enjoy your life a little bit more right now.
And so I’ve got a perspective shift for you that will help you do exactly that.
Stop looking at “blocks” as something that is BLOCKING your path.
Start looking at these things that feel challenging, the things that trip you up (maybe again and again) as the path itself.
Because here’s the thing: you won’t move forward until you find a different way to deal with your “blocks” or challenges in life than what you have been doing.
That doesn’t mean they are some insurmountable obstacle that has to be dramatically removed or cleared from your path so you can get on with your life’s work without this nonsense yapping at your heels.
There’s nothing wrong with you. Nothing that needs to be removed, or repaired because it isn’t supposed to be there.
These “blocks” are the lessons you need to learn, the wounds you need to heal, and the dark corners you need to shine a light into so you can make friends with your own personal boogey-persons (we don’t gender profile around here, mmkay.)
When you go IN instead of trying to go around, or remove, you’ll learn the valuable lessons and experience the growth you need to truly go beyond these challenges and become the next-level version of you you probably feel like you’ve been searching for.
It might feel like a fine line, but I believe we need to integrate our shadows, and treat them with some kindness and compassion to truly move beyond them.
The last thing we need is another reason to think there is something wrong with us, or the life experience we’re having right now.
So if you feel like you’re struggling over something (or a variety of somethings) that are keeping you from experiencing the fullness of your life that you desire to, know this: the lessons you will learn when you embrace your “blocks” or “limits” as part of your life’s journey and get curious about it instead of trying to smash through it, are the lessons that will get you to the next level. To a new way of being, and feeling.
Your challenges are yours for a reason. They’re for you to heal for your own growth and expansion, and perhaps so you can guide someone else through those same lessons at a later date. Or perhaps just to burn off that particular energy from its existence in the universe (hellooooo, karma.)
I have no doubt you have what it takes to embrace, and work through, whatever is challenging you right now. And if you’re feeling some resistance to doing so, make sure you check out the new free guided meditation I dropped on Monday all about how to release resistance quickly. It’s a sweet little practice based in compassion and kindness, and I think you’ll love it!
